Abstract

One of the main goals of the study was to identify the extent of the terrorist threat in Central Asia and the problems of regional security. The study was based on the materials of The Jamestown Foundation Global Research & Analysis, Global Terrorism Database, Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project and George Washington University. Special attention was paid to the need to monitor the dynamics of changes in social processes and factors contributing to the manifestations of international terrorism in Central Asian countries. This direction shows the relevance of such a study. The lack of formats for interaction between society and the state authorities of Central Asian countries on the issue of how religious life should develop and what forms it should take creates certain risks of possible destabilization in the region. Therefore, in the short term, local destabilization situations may still manifest themselves in the form of various extremist acts  from terrorist attacks to mass riots, the organization of which can be taken over by radical religious and terrorist groups, which, in turn, is permanent and already happening at the moment.
